Visitors

No time to be substantial this morning. I just found this interesting (I know--I need to get a life). Three stories from the front page of the paper today. First--a couple relocated here from New Orleans. I know that's not a big deal to those of you in Texas or Tennessee or anyplace nearby, but they (don't know exactly who "they" are) had a press conference to introduce them! A press conference! Maybe to introduce the new black couple living in Helena (there's not many of those, ya know....). Maybe to make whoever called the press conference feel important. In any case, this poor couple looked like they wanted to be anywhere other than at a table answering questions. We Montanans will do just about anything to make the news!

Secondly--the Dalai Lama was in Idaho (which is like, right next door). Something about that is so cool! The man who is leads 20 million Tibetan Buddhists was just a few hours away! That's like having the Pope nearby! I don't necessarily know the ins and outs of Buddhism, but every picture you see of the man shows him smiling! And that can't be a bad thing, can it?

Lastly--and probably the most exciting thing to happen to Helena in, oh, a week or so--skateboarding icon Tony Hawk paid a surprise visit to the skate park in town (the only people there were the delinquents who were skipping school....). Came in unannounced, but thanks to cell phones, had a nice little crowd to watch him perform.

Any guesses as to which of the three got the largest acreage on the front page???
