- Helena Capital HS won its third straight state AA championship by defeating Billings West, 35-14. It was a close game until the second play of the third quarter, and the Bruins simply put it away. They are already favored to make it to the championship game next season!
- Carroll College started its defense of its national championship by defeating Dickinson State (N.D.), 35-18. They will be putting their 27-game winning streak on the line when they host Northwestern Oklahoma State next Saturday. It will be a rematch of the 2003 championship, where Carroll won their second straight championship against the team quarterbacked by Patrick Crayton (currently playing wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys).
- The University of Montana defeated their cross-state rivals, Montana State University, 35-3. Coupled by an unanticipated loss by Weber State to Eastern Washington (26-33), the Griz captured their 11th consecutive Big Sky Championship (co-champions with Weber State). This also propelled the Griz to the #4 seed, meaning that, for at least the first two games, they will host! First opponent--Texas State. With any luck at all, it will be cold and snowy!!!
Just heard from S2. She just dropped off Mom and Dad. He's doing well, but stiff after riding in a car for 4 hours. And he didn't get much walking done while at the hospital, so he's not walking very well right now. Thanks for all the good wishes. I'll keep you updated (hopefully not much more to say!).
Aready polished off my first half-gallon of egg nog. Damn, I do love this time of year!
