2. List out your top 5 favorite places to eat at your location.
OK--I don't eat at fancy places much, and the options are somewhat limited anyway. But these are the favorite places that I go to. Linked, where possible.
- Brewhouse Pub & Grill - This is sort of my default place to go. They have a wide selection of microbrews on tap, including the beers from the brewery that shares the building. Great food, ranging from off-beat appetizers to full dinners. Almost always full of people, which is a rarity in this town.
Howard's Pizza - It may sound gross to you, but when you eat their pizza, the grease will drip off your elbows. It's not as bad as it sounds! The original outlet was the place that my dad bought my first beer. As a 17 year old! They closed in the late 70s and returned about 7 years ago. And it was like they hadn't skipped a beat. Among their offerings are an anchovie pizza, a sauerkraut/sausage pizza and an asparagus/cheddar pizza. No, I've never attempted any of those.
York Bar - A small bar about 20 miles into the mountains northeast of town in the midst of a heavily visited recreation area. This place doesn't offer much as far as a menu, but for years, Helenans have consistently voted their hamburgers as the best in the area. No argument here! And they always include a York Peppermint Patty with each burger!
A & W - This goes back years and years. Nothing like taking home a gallon of root beer, or crunching into their onion rings, or best of all, an official A & W Root Beer Float!
Yacht Basin Restaurant and Bar - This surprisingly upscale restaurant has large picture windows overlooking Canyon Ferry Reservoir, the biggest of the lakes in the area. They offer all sorts of seafood (remember--this is Montana), as well as a good selection of wine. Upscale, but not full of itself--you might find diners in their best evening dress seated next to a table of diners who have just come off of the lake. Surprisingly, sort of a secret to most Helenans.
I usually don't tag people, but what the heck--Moose, Phain, Sassy, Tish (for tagging me with a different one!) and Charlie.
Happy Dining!
