The tears have been shed. The laughs have been laughed. Piles of pictures have been rifled through numerous times. Final wishes have been carried out, or will be. Today is the funeral. And reception (chatted with someone who'd never heard of a reception after a funeral--is it not common?). As Dad wanted, it's going to be a lunch buffet at the country club, with an open bar. Oh, dear Lord! But that's the way he wanted it.
I cannot wait for this day to be over.

That is such a lovely picture.
I hope you will find strength in your family and friends' love.
Hugs.
Great pic. Hope the day rips by!
My thoughts are with you Scott. I'd give you a hug if I could.
Receptions are very common here in the UK. I think they are a good thing to do. You can relax a little after the tensions of the day with the friends and family and have a good reminicse. When our elderly relative died a couple of months ago, we made several montages of photos of her with various people and it was a good ice breaker and stopped people standing around looking uncomfortable.
You always get a person there who's a pain in the ass, but it's only for a short time. You must laugh about it.
Gorgeous photo by the way.
Your photo made me smile. It is so beautiful.
Wakes are pretty standard around my parts as well. And I definitely think them necessary and uplifting in their own way.
Thinking about you...
xxxx
Big hug for you and your family.
My thoughts are with you.
((hug))

I hope the end of the day comes quickly with many fond memories, closure, and peace.
Love that photo!
I will have a reception at my funeral, complete with an open bar and a dress code (Hawaiian shirt and flip-flops).
Wishing you some peace within this emotionally chaotic day.
Sending some hugs your way.
I'm used to luncheons after funeral services, so not that uncommon to me.
Hope you're hanging in there.
Toast to him for me! Love you!
Such a great photo! Hope you raised a glass for him. I'm glad you are doing what he would want you to do. Hugs!

((((hugs))) thought of you today....
A wonderful photo, Os.
And yes, a reception after a funeral is quite usual - it can be very helpful too, a time to relax after the ceremonies are dealt with. We had a tea party for my great aunt, knowing that she would have loved the event. x
