Spring, the sweet spring, is the year’s pleasant king,What a crock. We've been under a winter storm warning for two days now, and it extends until tomorrow morning. It's been snowing non-stop (albeit lightly) since Tuesday morning. So far, we've got about a foot of snow where I live, about 2 feet in the hills, and up to 4 feet in small towns about an hour away.
Then blooms each thing, then maids dance in a ring,
Cold doth not sting, the pretty birds do sing:
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!
The palm and may make country houses gay,
Lambs frisk and play, the shepherds pipe all day,
And we hear aye birds tune this merry lay:
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!
The fields breathe sweet, the daisies kiss our feet,
Young lovers meet, old wives a-sunning sit,
In every street these tunes our ears do greet:
Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we, to witta-woo!~~Thomas Nashe (1600)
For those who are not familiar with snow, there's a 'dry' snow and a 'wet' snow, based on the relative amount of moisture in the snow. And snow that falls in sub-zero temps will be nice and powdery since it's too cold to stick to each other. In the temps that we have now (right at freezing), it sticks quite well. What we've got is most definitely 'wet'. Great for snowballs and snowmen. Really sucky for shoveling and plowing.
Ah, plowing. Not much of that going on this morning. Nothing quite as fun as driving in a foot of slushy snow. Even more fun coming home after work to find that the parking lot at my apartment complex hasn't been plowed. Even more fun will be trying to get out in the morning through the ice-formed ruts that used to be slushy ruts.
Do I sound bitter? I hope I do. After reading ASM's first line this morning, and knowing that Queenie probably spent some time at the pool today, and people like M have a great farmer's tan going--yeah, I'm bitter. Spring snow storms are expected around here, but c'mon! It's damned near May! I suppose it's better than a drought, but still...
This is from early Tuesday afternoon (you can still kind of see pavement behind me!). Squinting to keep the snow out of my eyes. The only thing good about all this--symphony season is over! I didn't have to move equipment through all of it!

~~HoraceI was looking for a good cat/mouse poem or quote, and sometimes the most perfect one pops up!
One might wonder how talking about a cat toy might give you a hint about who this MG might be, but then again, it should be the perfect hint! But only if you've been to her site this week! If you haven't, be sure to come back Thursday afternoon to find out who she is!
It doesn't appear that many of you figured this one out! Our cat-toy loving MG is terminally cute NY Diva! Stop by and tell her that she's lovely, even when she's not inspired! And you can catch a glimpse of her cute tummy, too!
I swear that some of you must talk to each other before sending in pictures for "...the Other HNT"! Butts apparently were the subject of the week. How do you guys do that? Still, lots of other things to see, and to be on the safe side...consider it's still NSFW! Be sure to leave comments!
