I've always been one to celebrate my Irish heritage on St. Patrick's Day. In spite of not having that outward indication that I've got any Irish blood in me. No O'Hara or Flanagan or Faherty as my surname. The Irish part of my family comes from my mother's mother's family, so the surnames have gotten buried. The Milligans and the O'Hearns.
Sadly, I've never really dug into my heritage. Mom started years ago, and was able to go back a couple of generations, plus some references to being related to "John, the Warrior" from the 11th century. No one famous, that we could tell, but there were a couple of ministers that popped up.
I've always wanted to go to Ireland, though I'd have to do some real studying of my ancestors, so that I could really enjoy the history of my lineage. I'm hoping that, somehow, that lineage includes the Guinness family. To that end, I celebrate each year with my favorite Irish drink. And while I don't quite do the presentation as well as last year's SPD Mystery Guest, the sentiment's the same!
I hope that you all had a great St. Patrick's Day!
The Aries:
"Aries is the first sign of the western zodiac - untested, unsophisticated and genuine to a fault. Aries charges through life, bumping into obstacle after obstacle then getting bravely up, only to wonder where the lumps and scrapes and bruises came from."
This week's Mystery Guest will be revealed Thursday afternoon. It's her birthday this weekend too!
The birthday girl this weekend is Stealth, who's come back after a long time away. Stop by and wish her a happy birthday (Saturday)!
Something had to give way today amongst all the things going on (see my previous post), and "...the Other HNT" is it. It'll still be going up, but not until later tonight, and possibly not until after midnight sometime. But be sure to check it out! Your fellow HNTers would appreciate it! Definitely NSFW this week.
Another adventure of the OsShirt has been posted. It's slowly getting caught up over there!
I've got that "ask me a question" thingie over there in my sidebar. So much easier than coming up with a new meme! Try it out--it's anonymous, too!
As a special Irish treat, we've got a second Mystery Guest! Enjoy!
"St. Patrick's Day is an enchanted time --
a day to begin transforming winter's dreams into summer's magic."
~~Adrienne Cook
This week's second Mystery Guest will also be revealed on Thursday afternoon. But if you know her, you might be able to see her with even a little less green!
This Irish lass is Minority Report! Be sure you stop by her place too!
What an awesome picture, Os! Makes me want to celebrate with you and a Guinness :)
ReplyDeleteI'm up. Wasn't celebrating St. Patrick's Day, but I'm sure the more than half-nekkidness makes up for it...

Begorra, I'd be seeing Double with the MG today! I'm in my Guiness trim, too! But my Full Monty is postponed a week since that's a Royalist plot. Come see the Half-Nekkid colleen I got ALL-finished on my arm today! She's totally GORGEOUS now, & I'm taking her to bed in about 10 minutes!

ReplyDeleteI'm up!
We are up at Married In Ohio with our Saint Patrick's Day HNT.

As an Irish American girl, I love the St. Patrick's Day post. And I had my Guiness tonight, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm up...
I'm up!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated St. Paddy's Day!
Sadly, I didn't celebrate SPD at all, even though I'm 1/4 Irish (like you, it's a maternal link, so my name doesn't reflect it) AND in Boston.
ReplyDeleteDouble MG, sweeeeet!
I'm up and in moving in a blur I'm so busy!
http://hubmanshangout.com/2010/03/18/hnt-blur/

I'm up. Playing with myself, and my basso.
ReplyDeleteI've got a wee bit of Irish in me but it's so small I think tracking down my heritage would be difficult.
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to Irland some day as well, but that won't be for a while.
I'm up:)
HHNT
Great pictures Os and a Happy Belated St. Patrick's Day to you.
ReplyDeleteI am up (well actually lying down) today over at http://anothersuburbanmom.blogspot.com/2010/03/hnt-babys-got-back-edition.html
Great color in your photo and you did a nice job recreating the one from last year. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm up!
Oh duh, we didn't even think if doing a St. Patrick's Day theme. We just put our hands on a couple of naughty places. Oh well.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.zaftigchicks.com/home/2010/3/18/half-nekkid-thursday-jazz-hands.html
gosh, i'm so late! my sons had sleepovers last night and i fell asleep on the couch after the young ones went to sleep. oops! i realized when i woke up in a disoriented state at 3am that i had also set my post to auto at 12 noon. i fixed it and am up!
ReplyDeleteinteresting about the irish heritage. i think it would be very cool to see ireland for sure. i remember last years SPD mystery guest. dreamy like these 2, and i love your picture. hope your busy day went well.
I've never really dug into my heritage
ReplyDeleteI think that's true for many of Irish ancestry. I'm the same way, and I'm mostly Irish with an Irish surname. The answer may have something to do with the fact that the Irish were so discriminated against in the past, so they tried to downplay their Irishness so they assimilate more. That became part of the immigrant cultural mindset.
I'm up!
I'm finally up and now I have to go wake the kiddo, too. No green for me...it's all wine and silver. HHNT!

ReplyDeleteSt. Patrick's Day is in our rear view!! Neither Jen nor I like corned beef and we don't have a drop of Irish blood betwixt us. And besides -- March Madness tips off today and at least Fooled Around and Fell in Love has THEIR head in the game...
ReplyDeleteWe're up and running a fast break!
Lovely MG's today Os.
ReplyDeleteUp and relaxing over on Ivey Lane!
I hope you enjoyed your St Patrick's Day - the kids were fairly horrified with the green food I served them...
ReplyDeleteI am up....
Scintillectual wrestled the camera from me and I'm up with my very first (and rather SFW) HNT. Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeletehttp://androgynonamous.wordpress.com/2010/03/18/hnt-coerced/

ReplyDeleteLooks like you had fun celebrating! We stayed in...not even any beer, just corned beef and cabbage. And some celebrating upstairs later.
ReplyDeleteMy St. Patrick's Day HNT contribution is up.
Even though I'm Scottish, not Irish, I really look forward to St. Patrick's Day. Seems like ever bar within crawling distance, serves free corned beef & cabbage & inexpensive beer. Last night we had some and again this Sunday after the parade.
ReplyDeleteI was up last night, but fell asleep before you opened for comments.
We are up and I'm in green!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm finally up, but I stuck with the green theme!
ReplyDeleteOs, despite your restrictions I hope you indulged in the Guinness.

Two MGs for the price of one - sweet!
ReplyDeleteYour photo reminds me that I've never done anything "special" on St. Patrick's Day. I don't even bother wearing green. I dare anyone to try and pinch me!
Happy St. Pat's :)
ReplyDeleteI'm up. I've been up since last night, but I didn't get a chance to post.

Hi Os. Happy belated SPD.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while, but I'm up.
I made a small come back for Stealth... or should I say big since it's my butt? Hmmm... LOL!
ReplyDeleteHappy HNT!!! :)
Really great pic Os! And the MG pics are great too of course!
ReplyDeleteMy grandma researched our family back many, many generations - it's pretty neat to see - but I would *not* have the patience to do it myself.
Oh, and I'm up. I've been up, I just couldn't come tell 'ya. ;)
Just over an hour left in Thursday, but I finally got my #hnt up. Please check it out? :)

How are you feeling?
