- Interesting that, back in August of 2008, I wrote this as part of the Summer Games opening ceremonies in Beijing: "Bob Costas is an ass." Certainly hasn't changed. Of course, this is NBC, who has kept Jay Leno around far too long too.
- Glad that that NBC broadcast the luge accident, and equally glad that they have chosen not to show it again. Should be easy to find on YouTube, but the spammers are fully aware of it. Severely low class...
- REALLY upset that even though I'm only one time zone away, we're not get the live broadcast. So as everyone cheers and is excited on Facebook, the surprise is shot. Of course, if I wasn't on Facebook, I wouldn't know, would I? Glad I'm not on Twitter!
- Didn't realize that there were two (at least) Montanans competing. I'm sure there's probably more, but I find it interesting that there's been virtually no mention of them in the local media. Or maybe there has--I so rarely read local news...
I guess there was a basketball game and a car race today too. Neither of which I could care less about.
I was highly disappointed in the "We Are the World" remake. Yet that would imply that I had any sort of expectation. Really...Barbra Streisand? The only country artist on the official roster was Zac Brown. Carlos Santana, who should have been on the first one, was kept in the sound booth. About 60 people who I've never heard of. Brian Wilson was on the list. I think they kept him in the back row with the old farts. Speaking of old farts, Tony Bennett was there, but he's cool again, so that's OK. It was good to see Jeff Bridges playing the role of Dan Aykroyd this time around. The first time around, they raised over $60M for African relief. I doubt they'll hit $20M this time.
- Don't forget that next week will be the Winter Olympic HNT theme! For those of you who worried about not having snow for pictures, I think that's been taken care of... If you still don't have snow, you could always opt for indoor skating, or medal ceremonies, or something along those lines. Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with! Canadians--I'm looking forward to some real national pride!!!
Someone made mention on a comment somewhere how "adorable" it was to see all the southerners posting pictures of their snow. Yeah. That's the word I'd use!
Apparently, when one is snowbound by the 5 inches of snow outside, they spend time playing with Photoshop. Q sent this to me. Pretty much the story of my life... thanks Q!

snow is cute - no matter where in the world it is.... until February when it is sure to drive me insane.......
Adorable and snow are not two words I would ever use in the same sentence. And I *LIKE* snow (to a point....a very minimal, Colorado type of a point, lol).
I haven't been able to catch any of the winter olympics. Sadly.
We seem to be delayed here too ... or at least the network I was watching was delayed. I had to SHUT DOWN THE COMPUTER *gasp* to combat the twitter/facebook spoilers!
I was just expressing my frustration about this last night. Nothing like watching the Olympics happening IN YOUR TIMEZONE only to have them tape delayed by 3 hrs!! And, the Twitter people aren't the ones revealing too much - it's the news agencies I'm about ready to unfollow. Nothing like watching and hearing that "no one knows which Canadian is going to win the first gold" only to see the NY Times release about who won it. It's driving me a bit nutty.
I'm one of the few without snow, but I think I have some ideas for HNT. Then again, it would be accurate this year if I took a picture in the rain. :)
Oh and Bob Costas was being a bit risque last night when he all but said that the winner of an event was going to go get laid tonight. Yeah. Like you said - this is the network that kept Jay around too long.

cute or adorable is not a way I would ever refer to snow...
I live in Calgary AB... we get all kinds of snow here, wet snow, dry snow, and even hor snow (yes that is what it i really called) when its the right temp... it really neat looking stuff..
See example here:
Hore Snow
but with all the snow i live with from year to year, i would call it beautiful, stunning, evil, scary, dangerous, fun, and many other descriptive... as a snowboarder and snowboard photographer I am in snow alot... just would never use cute or adorable.. unless perhaps its on the snout of a puppy...
Aww crap, I need to come up with an HNT idea...
The remake is very disappointing. I agree.
Being totally uncoordinated, I get such a charge (and case of nerves) watching the beauty of the atheletes. I try not to listen to the idiot commentary.
Love the picture. Seriously.
And I'm not following the theme again. You are shocked, I know. :)
peace...
I didnt even know they were remaking the We Are The World video. Mind you, we've had our own helping Haiti record full of XFactor winners and a load of people whose voices I just dont recognise.
Could it be that the influx of reality tv show songsters means that no one really distinctive makes it big any more?
That pic made me LOL
Hahaha, cute southerners and their snow. It's very nearly quaint.
I think it sucks that they don't play the live showing of the Olympics down there. My MIL is in Wa state and she doesn't even get the live broadcast, she's on a 2 hour delay. How the hell ya supposed to cheer your country on, on a 2 hour delay?!
I'm watching a crazy amount of Olympics this year, I'm practically glued to my TV, which is bad. Good, in that I got to watch a Female Canadian win a gold, but bad that it was damned painful to watch all the ladies bail on the course!
Looking forward to the theme.
I will have you to know that we got TWELVE & A HALF inches of RECORD- SETTING SNOW down here, not just 5! ;)
The We Are The World remake totally sucked.
I love your photo!! Hilarious!
